The creators of the game told the Ukrainian game development community on Reddit about the creation of the game and the launch of its Steam page. According to them, development started a few months ago.
«The two of us started this project when we were unemployed for a while. In about two months, we made a prototype and conducted three small playtests among close acquaintances and friends. The feedback was positive, so we started a page on Steam,» the developers share.
The main gameplay feature of Split Circuit Arena is its asymmetrical split control. One player is responsible for the robot’s left wheel and weapons, while the other controls the right side. To simply drive in a straight line or make turns, partners will have to synchronize their actions and constantly coordinate movements in real time.
In addition to control, players will need to fend off enemy robots, which, according to the authors, have their own unique sets of weapons and behavior algorithms. The arenas will also feature deadly traps that can be used against opponents. The project will support both local multiplayer (on one screen) and online play.
The developers are currently actively collecting feedback on the game’s concept and trailer, and are also encouraging users to add the project to their Steam wishlist to support further development.
