In PON, the cable goes from the provider’s node to the house and is powered by electricity at this node.
In Ethernet, there is an additional switch in the consumer’s house, which also needs to be powered. This technology can be more vulnerable to outages, but this can be prevented by providing power to a switch in the home.
Participants noted that after the attacks, 90% of subscribers who connected xPON have stable Internet. At the meeting, they summarized what solutions will help providers quickly increase the number of connections to xPON. Mykhailo Fedorov shared the list in Telegram:
