Since the comments are mostly anonymous — from unverified IT specialists — and the companies mentioned in the comments did not comment on the facts voiced by the topic participants, dev.ua does not indicate which employers are in question, omitting the names of the IT companies.

Theads user Vyacheslav Moskal was interested in the experience of employees of large outsourcing companies and asked to tell us exactly how employees are booked at IT giants that are residents of Diіa.City.

In response, dozens of users shared their experiences and observations. The main idea that is repeated most often is that it is difficult for regular developers to get reservations, and priority is often given to managers, technical leads, and employees involved in mission-critical projects.

User kotanvit claims that executives and managers are booked first, while ordinary specialists can remain without a delay for years.

helloiamolek expressed a similar opinion: «In large IT companies, there is practically no reservation for regular developers. Reservation starts at the manager level.»

«Bring a disabled friend and they’ll give you 50% of the booking quota. I think the tops immediately found disabled people,» writes a user with the nickname voordooluck.

User trmwhspr shared his experience working with a recruiter at a large IT company while looking for a job. According to him, during the interview he was told that the company was booking employees, but later clarified that after employment you need to sign up for an internal queue. «They said you register for a job and get on the reservation queue. The queue can last a year or more,» he clarified. He also claims that the company did not agree to guarantee a reservation after the transition to the staff.

«Then I asked what if I bring my friend to another position (because they are looking for two) with the same stack, and if we both come, will I be able to book for him (he is disabled)? The answer was „no“, like we have someone to book, because people are waiting in line, and give me your friend’s contacts, we will contact him. I was like, yeah, that’s me, I ran to give you my contacts. Then I asked for one more thing, which I was also refused. In short, they don’t allow me to be registered somewhere else, and to work for them as an individual entrepreneur or a gig contractor. As they told me, it’s „company policy“. Then the communication ended. Because if they tighten the screws like that from the very beginning, then what will happen next,» he shared. trmwhspr.

«For important devs, the company itself finds and hires proxies to book who it needs. For those who are less important, bring a „friend“ yourself and get a reservation, and if not, then no. No one will look for a partner for you to meet the 50% quota,» noted kucherdmytro .

At the same time, not all participants in the discussion agreed with the thesis about the absence of reservations for technical specialists.

User mary_beyond reported that at her company, bookings are mostly received by technical leaders and employees working on business-critical projects. She estimates that about 30% of the company’s employees have bookings.

ostannia_z_barikad expressed it this way: «The general mechanism: only those who are officially on the staff and working are booked by law. So if you are a freelancer or gig contractor, you are walking in the woods. Outsourcers take rowers as freelancers or gig contractors. Therefore, there is no reservation for ordinary IT workers. Is there any top person who is officially on the staff who will be booked?»

A similar opinion was expressed by nick_khoroshkov, who noted that a significant part of employees of large IT companies are registered as individual entrepreneurs, and therefore cannot be booked under the current mechanism.

«Fronts to front, everyone else will be booked,» says anton___drakon ironically.

Among other issues raised during the discussion:

  • bookings often depend on the company’s internal quotas;
  • there is no public information about the number of reserved employees;
  • some companies do not guarantee reservations during employment;
  • Some IT professionals believe that booking information is internal and not disclosed.
