Lesya Orobets agreed, answering questions from Dignitas President Lyuba Shipovich in a video interview on YouTube, that in fact Sky Shield will be a competition with the Russian military-industrial complex in how quickly they can produce missiles.
The former MP added that if we manage to unite a coalition of countries that will help protect the sky over Ukrainian territories from missiles, which Russian planes have not flown to for a long time, it will help us have a tighter ring of protection in eastern Ukraine. And the more countries join the Sky Shield initiative, the larger the area of territories we will be able to protect. As a result, according to her, we will have more free rein and as a result, «not only Uzhhorod, but also Kharkiv will be more protected.»
«This can change and increase our chances in war and negotiations,» Lesya Orobets emphasized.
In addition, the former MP recalled that in the first two years, Russia launched more than 5,000 missiles at Ukraine. «And unfortunately, we know for sure that they are managing to increase production,» she added.
Recall, almost a week ago, Europe proposed a plan to protect the skies over Ukraine, Sky Shield, separately from NATO. It involves patrolling 120 modern European fighters, including F-16, F-16AM/BM, Eurofighter Typhoon, Mirage 2000 and JAS 39 Gripen, which will take off from European bases to protect the territory of Ukraine from Russian missiles. In addition, Lesya Orobets also noted that it would be ideal if these aircraft shot down not only cruise missiles, but also valuable reconnaissance drones.
