A group of individuals organized the illegal production of batteries on an industrial scale in four regions. The counterfeits, disguised as well-known brands, were then sold wholesale and retail both online and offline.
Professional equipment was used to manufacture and package the counterfeit products. However, no safety checks were conducted on the use of their products, reports the Kyiv Oblast BEB, which uncovered the illegal production.
BEB detectives, together with Cyberpolice operatives, conducted searches at production facilities, warehouses, offices, and residences of the suspects. The searches were conducted in the Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, and Odessa regions.
As a result, equipment for the production and packaging of batteries, printing with international brand markings, and components for the manufacture of products worth over UAH 2 million were seized. Over 37,000 units of finished goods without documentary confirmation of origin and draft records were also seized.
The seized products have been sent for necessary forensic examinations. Law enforcement officers have now identified both the organizers of the scheme and the perpetrators of the crime, who directly carried out the production of the batteries.
In addition, the administrator of the web resource for online sales of batteries was identified and retail outlets were established.
