A robot that can save underwater cables from sabotage has been tested in the UK (VIDEO)

The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, a special agency under the UK Ministry of Defence responsible for scientific discoveries and technological solutions for the British «defense industry», has tested an underwater robot that can be used to counter sabotage on the seabed, in particular to avoid damage to underwater cables.
This was reported on the official website of the British government.
«DSTL has tested an underwater robot that can prevent sabotage of submarine cables and pipelines by adversaries by eliminating threats,» the website notes.
This robot is commercially available and remotely controlled, and among other things, it can defuse a variety of munitions.
In particular, DSTL has implemented a number of systems that allow this underwater vehicle to detect unexploded ordnance and remotely place explosive charges for their safe neutralization.
«This unique development with sensors, special tools and cameras will provide operators with the ability to effectively deal with these underwater hazards in real time,» said explosive ordnance specialist John, one of the representatives of the team that conducted the tests.
Among the advantages of the robot is that it can operate at depths much greater than those that divers can reach, and it can also operate safely in such conditions for much longer.
The UK government added that the robot could be launched into the deep from a ship or the shoreline. The robot is resistant to damage, so it can be used repeatedly.
In turn, German technology company AP Sensing has developed technology that allows you to monitor what is happening near underwater fiber optic cables and «hear» enemy underwater drones or vessels dragging their anchors along the seabed.
«It is impossible to transmit such volumes of information using satellite or radio communication.» Why attacks on submarine cables are a potential way to isolate states, from which even Elon Musk’s Starlink will not save
