In Kyiv, a taxi driver from the Uklon service refused to take an assistant to People’s Deputy Oleg Maksymyak. The driver did not like his leopard manicure.
A 23-year-old Kyiv resident got into the front seat of a taxi, so the driver immediately noticed his manicure and began asking personal questions.
«A taxi driver just refused to take us and my friends because of my manicure and started asking me about my sexual orientation, after which he asked us to get out of the car,» wrote Oleg Maksym’yako in X, who works as an advocacy manager for the NGO «Point of Support of the Ukrainian Autocracy» and is an assistant to the People’s Deputy from the «Servant of the People» party, Maria Mezentseva.
According to Oleg, Uklon instantly registered the complaint and immediately provided a replacement car. «I hope the homophobic driver will be suspended,» the Kyiv resident added.
«I called the company as soon as I got out of the taxi and literally 2-3 minutes later they gave me another car. Even without my request, the operator did it on his own. They apologized and said that such behavior of the driver and his statements were unacceptable, and that the complaint would be recorded and work would be done on it,» Oleg told Bukvam in a comment.
Also that day, several coupons for a 50% discount on trips were added to his app.
Later, Oleg posted a photo of his manicure on social media, which caused a conflict with the taxi driver. After this post, the company contacted him and informed him that they had worked with the driver. The taxi driver’s further fate was not specified.
