Following Bolt, Uklon launched a "female" taxi. Who can become a driver?

A service has appeared in Uklon where women can order taxis with female drivers.

«Madam, sit down, your aunt will give you a ride,» the company’s message on X reads .

To order a car of the «Female» class, the company noted, users must indicate their gender in their personal profile on the main screen of the Uklon application. The service class will become available if the gender is indicated as «female» or «other» and when a free car appears nearby. For users of the «male» gender, cars of the «Female» class will not be available.

The company also notes that the driver has the right to cancel the order if the passenger is not a woman. Also, female drivers are not required to accept orders only from women.

Among the offered cars, female passengers can choose Skoda Superb, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry and others.

«The launch of this class meets the demand of modern Ukrainian society, and, in particular, the expectations of women who use our service. We strive to provide even more economic opportunities for all our driver-partners, including female drivers, strengthening their well-being,» said Serhiy Grishkov, CEO of Uklon.

Currently, the «Women’s» class of services, where all orders are placed and fulfilled by women, is available in Kyiv, Dnipro, Odessa, and Lviv. Uklon is talking about a possible expansion of the geography of services if they prove popular.

At the end of February, Uklon announced that they were creating special programs to increase the proportion of women among their drivers, including:

There is a reduced commission for new drivers who join the fleet;
There is a referral program in place, within which driver-partners receive additional bonuses for attracting new drivers.

Although the company noted that they have no problems with attracting drivers, their number at Uklon has increased by 25% since August. Currently, about 2% of women work in the company. And Ivan Chornohor, vice president for driver work at Uklon, did not consider this figure to be large at the end of December 2024, as he told Forbes. For comparison, a year and a half ago, according to him, their share was only 0,5%.
