Ukrainian indie studio Twigames and German independent publisher Crunchy Leaf Games have announced that their upcoming narrative survival RPG Hollow Home will be released in early 2027, and also revealed a new trailer for the game.
As dev.ua learned, the exact release date of Hollow Home is January 27, 2027.
The game's description states that Hollow Home has no weapons, no battles, and no combat. Instead, the game's protagonist, named Maxim, faces impossible choices and challenges that no teenager should have to deal with. The weight of a ruined life, the impact of war on those who live in it, and the moral cost of every small choice. Relationships play a key role. The people Maxim meets can help him get through each day, and every conversation can change what happens next. Maxim will have to make choices and learn to live with their consequences.
The game is inspired by the real-life events of the Russian invasion and siege of Mariupol. Maxim's journey begins on the last ordinary day he will remember, 24 hours before the invasion. The city is still intact. When he wakes up the next morning, everything has changed.
“We started working on Hollow Home in the spring of 2022, a few weeks after the full-scale invasion began. At first, it was our way of coping with what was happening around us. Making a game about war while you are experiencing it yourself is difficult, and there were weeks when it was almost impossible to think about anything else. We continued because we want people around the world to see what this war means for ordinary families who remain in their city and try to survive another day. In August 2026, Hollow Home had a successful Kickstarter campaign . We were supported by 558 people and we raised 140% of the initial target amount. We thank each and every one of them.” — Valeriy Minenko, founder of Twigames.
As a reminder, earlier in a conversation with dev.ua, Twigames founder Valeriy Minenko spoke about the challenges of creating a game, how developers convey the horrors of war crimes, and the state of the game development industry in Ukraine.
