Ukrainian Zibra AI launches ZibraGDS technology for rendering complex 3D effects in real time
Ukrainian startup Zibra AI has released a new technology, ZibraGDS, that allows you to reproduce complex 3D animation and visual effects directly in real-time engines. The solution is capable of compressing animated data by up to 92% and speeds up rendering by 5-10 times compared to traditional offline approaches.
The company announced the first commercial release of the tool, which took place on July 7 after several months of closed beta testing, in its press release.
The technology is designed to work with animated mesh sequences: destruction, water simulation, debris, motion graphics and other complex effects. The system uses a GPU-oriented approach. During compression, the geometry is broken into fragments, after which decompression occurs on the video card through amplification and mesh shaders. This allows you to perform parallel rendering of the scene and work with millions of polygons without loss of performance.
“Animated geometry has almost always meant offline rendering and hours of waiting. Now these scenes can run directly inside the engine in real time. This changes not only the speed of work, but also the very approach of studios to content production,” said Alex Petrenko, CEO of Zibra AI.
The developers will present the technology on stage at the ACM SIGGRAPH 2026 Real-Time Live! computer graphics conference on July 21. This year, only eight projects were selected for presentation out of hundreds of applications. According to Sergey Tokarev, founder of Roosh and investor of Zibra AI, the industry needs new infrastructure, and such fundamental technologies make the production of digital content more scalable.
Recall that ZibraGDS was the next step in the development of the startup's product line. In 2024, the company introduced the ZibraVDB solution , which enabled developers to work with cinematic volumetric effects, such as smoke, fire, and liquids, in real time inside Unreal Engine.
