The Ukrainian company Buntar Aerospace has developed the Buntar-1 vertical takeoff and landing reconnaissance drone, the Ministry of Digital Transformation reports.
Its tests were conducted on the basis of the state cluster of defense technologies Brave1.
The drone is designed for conducting reconnaissance in real time, targeting, adjusting and fixing various weapons, including barrel and rocket artillery. One of the drone’s developers is a soldier of the Security and Defense Forces, so Buntar-1 was developed for the real needs he saw on the front.
One of the advantages of the drone, according to its developers, is a reliable communication system that can work in conditions of countermeasures by means of electronic warfare (EW).
The company also added its own software to the drone, which automates the work of the external crew and increases their situational awareness.

An experienced crew can master Buntar-1 in three days, preparation from scratch can take about three weeks. The operational radius of Buntar-1 is about 50 kilometers. In the new version of the drone, called Buntar-3, the developers plan to increase the time in the air to three hours.
The startup was founded in August 2023 by Ivan Kaunov, Kateryna Bezsudna and Bohdan Sas. The company combines military and startup experience, which allows the team to approach the improvement of defense products from a technical point of view.
As the startup said earlier, the team is working on the development of two products:
— Buntar Copilot: reconnaissance mission planning and execution software that generates dynamic flight plans, taking into account all tactical and technical details: situational awareness, weather forecast, altitude map, signal maps and other sources. 90% automates the work of the UAV operator in mission planning and management, and is also compatible with other UAVs.
— Buntar One: a tactical-level reconnaissance UAV with an additional camera and an AI-based visual navigation module.
In June of this year, the co-founders of Uklon made their first major investment — $200,000 in Buntar Aerospace. As of early summer, the Buntar Aerospace team has raised $2.2 million in investment.
