Sandfall Interactive announced that its game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has crossed the 5 million copies sold mark and will receive a major update with new locations and bosses. The project will also feature new localizations, including Ukrainian.

The developers noted that this number of copies sold was achieved in five months since the release of Expedition 33. In addition, the soundtrack by composer Lorién Testard, which received many positive reviews, has gained 333 million streams on streaming services.

«To celebrate this event, we are working on a game update for all platforms, which will include several additions and updates as a thank you!» the game’s creators announced.

Among the upcoming updates announced are:

  • A new location with new enemies and surprises.
  • Challenging, new boss battles for the later stages of the game.
  • New costumes for each member of the Expedition.
  • New localizations of the game’s text and interface in Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian.

Sandfall Interactive also confirmed that they are already working on a new project.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released in late April on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S (including GamePass subscription), and PC. In just 3 days of release, it reached 1 million copies sold and received many positive reviews and comments.

The game was created by Guillaume Brosche, who was working at Ubisoft during the height of the Covid pandemic, decided he was fed up with his job and wanted to do his own project. He founded and headed the French studio Sandfall Interactive and assembled a small team of young developers, who released Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 5 years later.

The project’s success was even recognized by French President Emmanuel Macron. Expedition 33 is often nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards.
