“The information we collect is extremely useful for us, as it helps us make the right decisions about the types of technologies we should invest in and the products we should create,” Steam developers note.
Among the data on PC components, the platform also collects data on what language players are using. This information can be useful for developers and publishers who are considering adding different language localizations to their projects.
The most popular language on Steam in May 2025 was English (38%). Ukrainian is in 14th place with a score of 0.73% (+0.04% in the last month). It bypasses Italian, Czech and Portuguese, but is still inferior to Thai. However, the gap between Ukrainian and Thai (0.81%) has narrowed significantly and is now only 0.08%.
In September 2023, when Ukrainian overtook Italian , the gap to Thai was 0.31%. Ukrainian localization was then used by 0.64% of players from the Steam audience.
