Before these changes, the restrictions applied to users over the age of 13, who could stream on their own.
The innovation will affect all YouTube applications for Android, iOS and desktop computers.
YouTube alsowarned that streamers who violate the new rules will be punished. These could include disabling chat, limiting features, or even temporarily banning them from streaming. Repeated violations could result in the live stream being deleted or the account being terminated. YouTube emphasized that users cannot circumvent the rules by switching to another channel.
“YouTube may also impose less severe penalties, such as loss of access to live chat or other features,” the company added. The penalties will depend on the severity and frequency of violations.
Creators under 16 who want to continue live streaming can give an adult access to their channel. The adult can be added as an editor, manager, or owner. This allows them to start the stream from the linked account. However, YouTube emphasizes that the adult must be “visible” and clearly co-host the stream.
