The company finalized its IT systems and made legal decisions in favor of citizens, using the wording "OR" in the resolution of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
"Today, in an official letter, Ukrposhta informed the NBU that, referring to the public communication from the NBU and the text of the NBU resolution, where there was a choice of "YES/OR", Ukrposhta makes a choice in favor of the citizens of Ukraine and reads the resolution as "OR", - said Igor Smilyansky, Director General of Ukrposhta.
He explained that the introduction of strict customer identification requirements was a result of the NBU audit and the corresponding action plan that Ukrposhta was forced to implement.
According to Smilyansky, due to unpopular restrictions and complicated procedures, the company lost millions of hryvnias in profit, and the state, as a shareholder, lost corresponding revenues. Ukrposhta officially wrote to the NBU demanding permission to publish the results of the regulator's inspection so that society could see the root causes of previous tough decisions.
Having assessed the public explanations and the norms of the NBU resolution, Ukrposhta has made a decision in favor of customers. Starting tomorrow, the RNOKPP will no longer be required when paying in cash for the following transactions:
utility services - up to 5,000 hryvnias (except for tax payments, where the code is mandatory by law);
mobile phone payment;
bank card top-up - up to 5,000 hryvnias.
Another positive change awaits customers at the end of this week: Ukrposhta will begin masking some of the bank card numbers of utility payers in checks and documents.
This decision was made to protect citizens' personal data and is in line with international payment systems.
