The number of beginners in the Ukrainian technology sector continues to decline. Compared to 2022, the share of juniors and interns has more than halved, while the market has significantly shifted towards experienced specialists - Senior, Lead, and specialists with 5 years of experience.
The number of beginners in the Ukrainian technology sector continues to decline. Compared to 2022, the share of juniors and interns has more than halved, while the market has significantly shifted towards experienced specialists - Senior, Lead, and specialists with 5 years of experience.
According toDOU data, the share of specialists with up to 2 years of experience decreased from 35% in 2022 to 14% in 2025–2026. Over the past year, the share of juniors and interns has dropped from 12% to 11%.
Currently, experienced professionals dominate IT — 57% of respondents have over 5 years of experience (in 2022, only a third had such experience — 29%). Overall, the share of specialists with over 3 years of experience reaches 86%.
The distribution by title in 2026 looks like this:
Junior/Intern: 11%;
Middle: 30% (down from 32% year-over-year);
Team Lead/Head: 12%;
Architect / Tech Lead / Staff / Principal: 5%;
Manager: 5%;
C-level / Director / VP: 1%.
