Ukraine has launched “Guardian of the Law,” a free, non-commercial online service that helps people understand military law. It was created by developer Yevhen Polishchuk. "Guardian of the Law" is a free online service that explains military law in human language: what the law says, what to do, when, and what documents are needed. Each statement is accompanied by the article number of the law in its current version and the practice of the Supreme Court.
The service covers 104 situations — including issues of mobilization, deferment, CCC fines, passing the VLK, payments to military personnel, discharge from service, obtaining the status of a participant in hostilities, as well as assistance to families of prisoners of war and missing persons.
According to the developer, the AI assistant works on Claude models from Anthropic and uses a database of official legislative texts. It contains 7,217 articles and paragraphs from 88 regulatory acts obtained through the open API of the Verkhovna Rada. The answers are accompanied by links to the relevant regulations with the date of revision. The service also uses case law: 574 Supreme Court resolutions and 27,469 court decisions for 2025–2026.
The developer notes that the assistant does not generate legal answers without reference to sources and refuses requests with advice on evading service or finding the whereabouts of the CCC.
The project paid special attention to privacy. Before sending a request to the AI, phone numbers, documents, and military units are automatically masked. And 34 templates for applications, reports, complaints, and lawsuits are filled out directly in the browser: according to the developer, the entered data does not leave the device.
The service also features a Deadline Radar that calculates the last day for 24 legal procedures and allows you to add reminders to your calendar. The For Families section contains information on actions in cases of captivity, missing or death of a serviceman, DNA identification, and available payments.
"Guardian of the Law" does not provide legal services and does not take on cases. If a person needs a specialist, the service directs them to free channels of assistance — in particular, the free legal aid system, the Coordination Headquarters, the Veteran Hub, and human rights organizations. Materials on the site are marked as drafts until they are checked by a practicing lawyer. The initiative invites lawyers to join the review on a volunteer basis.
According to Polishchuk, the service has been operating since October 2026. It is free, does not contain advertising, and does not require registration. Future plans include reviewing all cards by lawyers, launching a Telegram bot, audio versions and simplified explanations, as well as tools for consultants of public organizations.
