Visa announced the launch of Tap to Add Card technology in Ukraine, which responds to the growing demand for secure and streamlined digital payment solutions. It allows customers to add contactless Visa cards to digital wallets by simply tapping them on their mobile device.
“Providing enhanced security and convenience, Tap to Add Card eliminates the need for the cumbersome process of manually entering a card number, which causes errors and creates vulnerabilities that fraudsters exploit to gain access to sensitive account data. After tapping, a unique one-time code is generated, verified by the Visa Chip Authenticate service, and card data is securely transmitted to the wallet, offering a much faster and more secure alternative to traditional methods,” says a press release about the new Tap to Add Card technology.
The Tap to Add Card feature was introduced last September and has gained popularity around the world. It has since been implemented by PrivatBank, Universal Bank, and the International Investment Bank (IIB). The technology has already demonstrated its ability to optimize and secure the transfer of card data to digital wallets: over 49,000 Tap to Add Card tokens have been generated in Ukraine.
Tap to Add Card will help issuers reduce tokenization fraud risks and associated costs, simplify the process of adding cards to a wallet, which will lead to fewer customer service requests, and improve transaction approval rates.
The benefits of Tap to Add Card for digital wallets are compliance with Visa security standards, which reduces the risk of card data leakage and potentially provides faster token provisioning due to fewer errors when entering the card number, as well as the ability to offer customers a new experience.
The technology is supported by digital wallets worldwide, providing full integration with existing digital wallet services.
