Fintech company W Group, founded by businessman Volodymyr Nosov, has financed a seed round of $400 million for American startup SignSplit. The project, which creates infrastructure for the protection and legal transfer of data for artificial intelligence, received a total valuation of $1 billion.
W Group representatives told dev.ua about the deal. It is noted that Nosov's company acted as the sole investor in this round and became the main strategic partner of the startup.
SignSplit is developing a platform for the economy of so-called “signed data”. The service allows users and organizations to protect their personal information, creative works, and digital reproductions of their appearance. Content owners will be able to set their own terms and transfer data to AI developers, researchers, or media under license, receiving financial rewards for doing so.
According to W Group founder Volodymyr Nosov, consent to use information and transparent monetization should become the basis of the AI market, just as transaction authorization became the basis of digital finance.
“The AI economy requires human consent, accounting for every use case, and fair compensation for their contribution. SignSplit is creating just such a standard,” he explained.
SignSplit co-founder and CEO Alessandro Monterosso added that the platform aims to bridge the gap between human experience and technology, ensuring the protection of authors as neural networks rapidly proliferate.
