Digital wallet app Cash App has launched a new gadget, namely a «magic wand» for paying for goods that is tied to the user’s credit card.
As TechCrunch reports, the stick will cost $25 and is part of a new line of NFC-enabled tag hardware that Cash App plans to expand to other form factors in the coming months.
The company said its tags will work at merchants compatible with Visa’s contactless payments platform.
The «magic wand» for paying for purchases is essentially a keychain that comes with a key ring. According to the developers, the gadget will be especially useful when the user is uncomfortable taking their phone out of a bag or pocket.
Although in reality, as the publication writes, the decision is clearly dictated not by convenience, but by the special vibe of paying for purchases with a «magic wand», especially on some holidays and special days.
The launch of Cash App’s new product is largely aimed at Gen Z users, and is aimed at attracting as many younger users as possible to the app. Among other things, the Block-owned fintech company Cash App introduced accounts for teenagers in 2021 and this year launched a debit card for children aged 6 to 12, which is supervised by parents.
