«If the year before last, the country could produce only one cruise missile — it was the Neptune, then last year we had a lot of new products that ensured an eight-fold increase in production compared to 2023,» writes «Suspilne», referring to Smetanin’s statement during a briefing for «Armorer’s Day.»
He also reported that in total, as of the end of 2024, 324 new weapons models worth $9 billion had been developed in Ukraine. In addition, the production of long-range drones in 2024 increased by more than 2 times compared to 2023 and by 22 times compared to 2022.
Speaking about the plans, the minister noted that the Ministry of Strategic Industry and Trade will have the capacity to produce $35 billion worth of military equipment within Ukraine by the end of this year. «We are already seeing growth this year,» he emphasized.
In addition, the advisor to the President of Ukraine on strategic issues, Oleksandr Kamyshin, noted that today, according to various estimates, from 30% to 40% of what our front is fighting with is produced in Ukraine. And domestic manufacturers are able to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with almost the entire range of military goods.
«This is our economy. As of last year, a significant part of the GDP is already our defense. I am sure that after the end of the war, with our victory, we will be able and will export our weapons,» he added.
