"Data-driven solutions work not only in IT, but also in health." How IT companies care about the health of specialists: annual checkups, massages, telemedicine and a day off in the first days of menstruation
«Jokes about 'I’m already over 30' stop being jokes at some point,» says Stas Sokolov, Communications Lead at Railsware. He adds: today, taking care of your health is not about emergency visits «when it’s really bad,» but about the habit of living a data-driven life. Tests, regular checkups, consultations with doctors, according to him, are like a gym or a barbershop, only for the internal systems of the body.
«I clearly know my „weak points“, so I understand which indicators should be kept under control and which specialists to visit for coffee (and consultation). My motivation is simple: it is better to manage the condition of your body based on data, not assumptions. A banal case: I was sure that everything was fine with my nutrition, but I decided „just in case“ to check my vitamin levels. The test results surprised me — the deficiency was found where I did not expect it. Thanks to the doctor, we quickly selected a therapy, and I felt a significant difference in energy. Therefore, like my colleagues, I approach this as follows: data-driven solutions work not only in IT, but also in health,» he shared with dev.ua.
His story is instructive: thanks to timely diagnostics, you can quickly correct the condition and feel the difference in well-being. It seems that the approach of «being guided by data, not assumptions» has long gone beyond product solutions and IT processes. dev.ua asked EPAM, SoftServe, Ciklum, EVО, PlantIn, ZONE3000, Railsware and Intetics how they help their specialists take care of their physical and mental health — and what exactly they consider part of a corporate culture of care.

Natalia Kolyadko, Talent Development Director at EPAM Ukraine
EPAM consistently encourages colleagues to take care of their own well-being, paying attention to both physical and mental health. To this end, the company creates conditions that allow them to explore various areas of well-being, receive expert information, participate in lectures, practices aimed at improving conditions, changing habits, as well as share experiences and their own developments with other colleagues. The main goal of such initiatives is to remove the stigma from the topic of health, while supporting a culture of self-care.
Today, the company’s wellbeing offering covers a wide range of services: insurance, individual consultations with a psychologist or coach, preventive lectures by Health Matters, as well as various initiatives to support health and well-being.
The BeWell Academy corporate program offers a variety of events throughout the year. It is designed as a space for communication, inspiration, and exchange of experiences, where everyone can find support and like-minded people. The program offers different formats so that everyone can choose what resonates with them the most.
The BeWell Academy community now has almost 5,000 members, and this number has grown significantly since the start of the full-scale invasion. Recently, the lab format has been popular. EPAM Labs is an opportunity to explore and experiment with specific topics for two weeks — body, mind, information hygiene, values, etc. Employees also have the opportunity to receive psychological counseling from Wellbeing Service experts, the cost of which is mostly covered by the company.
In addition, EPAM offers a range of different insurance programs. The basic insurance program, which is fully covered by the company, includes both basic medicine (emergency, inpatient, outpatient care) and additional preventive services (examinations, dentistry, vaccinations, etc.).
If desired, colleagues can choose extended programs with additional options, such as sports, increased dental limits, chronic disease coverage, etc., for a partial surcharge.
We strive for every employee to be able to find support, receive the necessary information, and feel part of a community where taking care of their health is the norm, and asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but a manifestation of responsibility for themselves.
Olena Oleksienko, Chief People Team at EVO
We care about the physical and psychological health of our employees. The office has a free gym for all colleagues, and yoga training is held twice a week. Medical insurance is available for employees in Ukraine: the «Standard» class, which is fully covered by the company, and «Elite» involves a small surcharge from the employee. As an analogue to insurance, you can choose compensation for a sports subscription for any type of activity — from the gym and dancing to horseback riding. For colleagues abroad, compensation for local insurance or a sports subscription is provided.
The company fully covers participation in running races in Kyiv, and the annual EVO Sport Games event brings together over 80 participants for running, cycling and walking competitions, where even the CEO demonstrates his training. For psychological health, there is a corporate psychologist, who can be contacted for a full session. In addition, employees receive nice discounts from partners on gyms, training, accommodation and delicacies, which makes an active lifestyle even more accessible and diverse.
Stas Sokolov, Communications Lead, Railsware
At Railsware, we really pay a lot of attention to the culture of wellbeing. And it’s not just about the «health month» with lectures and sports challenges, which we also have. In general, our conditions and benefits give our colleagues a lot of opportunities to take care of themselves and adjust their own life-work balance. These are 34 days of paid vacation per year, and a flexible schedule with the possibility of full remote work or a hybrid format, and a monthly smart budget that can be used for your own physical and mental health. And, of course, the opportunity to take time off if necessary right now, without long approvals.
As for insurance, the company offers medical policies at corporate rates to colleagues and their families. Several levels of packages are available — they differ mainly in the list of medical institutions and certain additional options. All of them, without exception, include annual check-ups. This is our basic standard: it is better to «get a check-up» once a year than to have to urgently repair the system later.
Oksana Bogatyrevych, Head of HR Team in Ukraine at Ciklum
Supporting the health of our specialists is an important part of the Ciklum benefit package. The company offers specialists health insurance in cooperation with an insurance partner. The program provides three coverage packages to choose from — with a focus on general health support, work with chronic diseases (with an expanded preventive block), and support for sports activity.
All packages include full coverage of medications according to the treatment program, dental services within established limits, flu vaccination, immunization within limits, as well as procedures such as massages and physiotherapy as prescribed by a doctor.
Each package also includes preventive consultations and examinations that specialists can use at their own discretion, including for regular medical checkups.
Additionally, all insured specialists have access to telemedicine services, which provide an unlimited number of online consultations with doctors.
This option also extends to five uninsured relatives of the specialist. If necessary, Sicklumers can choose extended coverage with a surcharge or take advantage of the relatives insurance option.
A separate area is mental health support. The company has a corresponding program, within which Ciklum covers the first three sessions with a psychotherapist on one of the online platforms and provides the opportunity to continue therapy on special corporate terms.
Kateryna Tereshchenko, HR PR Manager at Intetics
At Intetics, we are convinced that taking care of the team’s health is an integral part of the company’s sustainable development. We systematically support employees in maintaining and improving their health, in particular through a medical expenses compensation program. After successfully completing the probationary period, employees can take advantage of compensation for medical expenses in any medical institutions.
The percentage of reimbursement depends on the length of service in the company and provides for a gradual increase in the level of compensation in accordance with the duration of cooperation. The program applies not only to employees, but also to their close relatives: husband or wife, children (including adopted children), parents, grandparents, as well as brothers and sisters. The company compensates for the costs of services of any medical centers (subject to the availability of supporting documents).
Tetyana Kravtsova, HR-business Partner, product IT company PlantIn
Our company provides all employees in Ukraine with medical insurance. We strive to cover not only acute cases, but also prevention and support for chronic conditions. The package includes doctor consultations, examinations, necessary treatment and reimbursement of the cost of prescribed medications.
The insurance also includes: annual medical check-up (up to three preventive visits per year); a package of basic tests within the scope of insurance coverage; a course of 10 massages during the year; a separate budget for dental treatment.
In case of illness, employees can contact their insurance company to make an appointment with a doctor and receive reimbursement for the cost of prescribed medications. There is no limit to the number of sick days, but if the absence lasts more than three days, we ask for a doctor’s certificate. Additional opportunities are available for colleagues in Kyiv: you can make an appointment with a corporate therapist and get a massage.
We also have a period leave policy at PlantIn — an additional day off once a month on the first days of menstruation. It does not require separate approval from your manager.
According to our internal surveys, 91% rate the policy positively. For us, this is not just a benefit, we see that this practice helps preserve resources and supports a culture of care in the team.
Olena Lebedeva, Ukraine People Lead, SoftServe
At SoftServe, we systematically support a culture of physical, mental, and social well-being for our colleagues. We understand well the difficult times Ukrainian society is living and working in, so it is especially important for us to strengthen a culture of mutual support.
Medical insurance is included in the standard benefits package. After the trial period, specialists gain access to insurance, which provides the opportunity to seek quality medical services and take care of their health in a timely manner. Also, as part of the welfare program, the company partially reimburses the cost of gym memberships within a limit.
We pay special attention to mental health. Employees and their families have access to a psychological support program with confidential counseling. In Ukraine, four free psychological consultations per month are available, and for those serving in the military and their families, an unlimited number of sessions.
In 2025 alone, over 16,700 psychological sessions were held in Ukraine. An important initiative in this direction is the global Dare to Care program, which forms a holistic approach to wellbeing.
It combines psychological support, coaching, educational activities, internal support groups, leadership training on stress management, and healthy lifestyle initiatives. These include health check-up days, lectures by psychologists, blood donation campaigns, art therapy, etc.
Maryna Tereshchenko, Internal Communications Director at ZONE3000
ZONE3000 has a separate Wellbeing focus (for which we received the Employer Branding Award 2025 in London), which encompasses several initiatives. Our goal is to support our people when they need it, and to provide them with the tools and opportunities to take care of their physical and mental health on their own. Today, the company has the following initiatives to support physical and mental health:
Vacation and sick leave: 25 days of paid vacation and 5 days of paid sick leave per month, without a doctor’s note. These days can be used in case of illness or for mental recovery. In the current realities, specialists can use this opportunity after night shelling and other difficult situations.
Compensation for flu vaccinations: annual compensation for professionals and their loved ones.
Corporate voluntary medical insurance: the company offers collective insurance coverage, which allows you to receive medical services on more favorable terms compared to individual insurance. All organizational issues are taken care of by the company. Before the start of the program, we held open discussions with our specialists and took into account all wishes regarding insured events. Thanks to this initiative and partnership with Kharkiv IT Cluster, our specialists have special conditions for medical insurance.
Mental health:
Partial compensation for sessions with a psychologist/psychotherapist, assistance in finding a specialist;
Free access to the BetterMe: Mental Health app;
Mental Guide and useful resources about mental health on the corporate portal;
Z3k Balance Hub is a virtual space where we discover new approaches to self-care, develop resilience, and learn to better understand ourselves.
Regular 1:1 (as well as specialist meetings as needed) with People Partner and manager to prevent burnout and fatigue.
Physical activity:
Free access to the Better Me app;
Online training with a trainer (Pilates);
Sports communities by interest (Z3k Active Club) — running, walking, cycling, and other activities.
Partner discounts: our specialists have special discounts at medical centers and laboratories, as well as at massage studios.
Most of our initiatives are aimed at preventing physical and mental fatigue, providing opportunities for recovery and preventing burnout. In addition, we are always ready to listen to an individual problem and together find a solution to help the person.
