International IT company Welltech with an office in the Ukrainian capital has announced layoffs. According to IT professionals who shared the information with the Telegram channel «Overheard in IT» (hosted by representatives of the DOU editorial office), 80 specialists will be laid off.

«About 50 more specialists will change roles within the company. All due to a change in strategy. Welltech is rethinking existing products, some of theirs have become obsolete. It is unknown who exactly will be laid off. They will start announcing them in the near future,» the message says. Most people are being assigned to other projects.
The company employs about 800 people in total. There are offices in Kyiv, Warsaw, and Cyprus.
According to sources, those laid off are being offered three salaries as compensation and medical insurance. Specialists can also keep their equipment.
The company creates mobile applications in the Health & Fitness niche.
UPD. The company commented on the situation for DOU. «As part of the new strategy, Welltech is optimizing its product portfolio by discontinuing four applications, and is also changing its organizational structure.
The transformation affected technical specialists, as well as the marketing and product management team, the analytics department, etc. 10% of the organization is up to 80 specialists in Ukraine, Poland, Spain and Cyprus. At the same time, more than 40 specialists have the opportunity to continue cooperation with the company in new roles and with new opportunities.
The new organizational structure will come into effect in April 2025. All employees have already received the notification.
Welltech provides laid-off specialists with three months of severance pay or three months of paid leave. The company also allows them to keep laptops for personal use and extends health insurance for another three months. A career counseling and support program is provided (assistance in preparing a resume, updating a LinkedIn profile, etc.), recommendations to partner companies with the consent of specialists.
