How to creatively attract recruiters' attention to your resume? The experience of a developer from Kharkiv who created a minigame instead of a boring PDF

In a highly competitive IT market, job seekers are forced to look for unconventional ways to stand out among hundreds of reviews. Ukrainian Full-Stack developer Mykola Nosachenko found his own way to attract the attention of employers — he turned his professional blitz review into an interactive digital environment.

The developer shared his experiment on LinkedIn, noting that he was looking for an alternative to regular text files.

While job hunting, I noticed that there were a lot of applicants for every open position—which meant that recruiters were getting a ton of standard text resumes. Instead of sending out yet another PDF, I designed the resume as an interactive space that you could explore. This isn’t a new approach—it requires more resources, but it’s also more immersive. The world you explore can combine movement, sound, and focus—it can shape how you feel as you look at it, not just what you read. That’s exactly what I wanted to experiment with.

The developer adds that this is only the first version of the project, which he plans to further improve and make even more interactive. Currently, Mykola is looking for a job as a Front-End/Full-Stack engineer and works remotely from Ukraine. You can view his interactive resume at the link .

"It works": assessment from IT recruiters

The developer's creative approach has already yielded initial results and attracted the attention of hiring specialists. In particular, his resume was noticed by Lead Recruiter in IT Yulia Kayunko, who noted the seeker's original approach in her post.

"While some candidates rewrite their CV dozens of times, others turn it into a game. And you know what? It works. At least it caught my attention. Yesterday, a JavaScript developer surprised me with his CV. Instead of the usual PDF, it was a mini-game in which I walked through a green city, explored houses, and at the same time got to know his experience and achievements," noted Yulia Kayunko.

According to the recruiter, the developer didn't limit himself to just an interactive game. In his portfolio, he also presented his own pet project — an application that helps IT professionals create a resume, precisely adapt it to the requirements of a specific vacancy, as well as analyze the labor market and search for platforms where his technology stack is most in demand.

“And I thought again: today it’s not enough to just have strong experience. It’s also important to be able to show it in a way that makes you stand out among hundreds of other candidates. Of course, a creative CV won’t replace skills and abilities. However, it can be a reason why a recruiter wants to learn more about you,” the recruiter concluded.

Previously, dev.ua reported on Ukrainian iOS developer Dmytro Holovanov, who decided to abandon the standard PDF files and LinkedIn links. Instead, the IT guy outlined his professional path in the format of an extra-long thread on Threads .
