YouTube has made the automatic dubbing feature public. In what languages is it already presented?
The YouTube video service has launched an automatic dubbing feature in a number of languages: dubbing options become available in the «languages» section when uploading a video through YouTube Studio.
The YouTube video service has launched an automatic dubbing feature in a number of languages: dubbing options become available in the «languages» section when uploading a video through YouTube Studio.
«It’s important to remember that this technology is still fairly new and won’t always be perfect. We do our best to make it as accurate as possible, but sometimes the translation may not be entirely correct or the dubbed voice may not accurately convey the original speaker», — YouTube acknowledges some imperfections in its new feature in a news release on the official YouTube blog.
YouTube emphasizes that you don’t need to do anything special to get dubbed versions: the service will automatically detect the language of your video and create dubbed versions in other languages.
The dubbing function should appear in the «advanced settings» section. At the same time, you can listen to the dubbing, check it, and cancel publication if it does not meet the requirements or is not suitable for other reasons.
The service notes that if the original video is uploaded in English, it will be automatically dubbed in French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. If the video is uploaded in one of the listed languages, it will be dubbed in English. There is no word yet on whether automatic dubbing will be available in other languages.
YouTube says they continue to work on dubbing quality with colleagues at Google DeepMind and Google Translate to better mimic the creator’s tone, emotions, and atmosphere.
Recall that the rollout of this feature was first announced last summer — then YouTube began testing it among individual creators.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that YouTube is testing a new feature that will allow users to add important context to videos. This functionality is very similar to Community Notes in X (Twitter), which allows users to debunk various fakes in general, and Russian propaganda narratives in particular.
Соціальні мережі та штучний інтелект формують глобальні наративи про війну в Україні. Як їх використовують українці та росіяни — аналітика від Foreign Policy
