«Playtest announcement! Be one of the first to protest the Armed Forces of Ukraine,» the developers announced on their social networks.
Testing begins on October 24. It will feature version 10.0 content with the first stage of vehicle customization.
To participate in the testing, you need to have purchased the Squad game on Steam — along with it, a separate test version of the Public Play Testing App appears in your library, which is downloaded separately.
Earlier, Offworld Industries said that they decided to add the Ukrainian Armed Forces because their active Ukrainian player base is the 3rd-4th largest. Later, the game’s lead designer, Baron von Beuys, shared the details.
According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be a conventional faction that is part of the BLUEFOR alliance. It includes NATO members and countries that support the West. These factions are high-tech military formations equipped with modern Western-made equipment. BLUEFOR includes the armies of the United States, Canada, Australia, and Great Britain. The alliance is opposed by REDFOR, which consists of the Russian army, which uses Soviet and Russian weapons and equipment.
Boyce added that the vehicles and weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be focused on Soviet equipment and Ukrainian equipment produced in 2021–2022.
«We can’t confirm this yet, but future updates may add more specific battle groups focused on operations after 2022 that will use Western-made equipment, as well as a potential small faction focused on less traditional aspects of the Ukrainian Armed Forces», the game designer noted.
