AUTODOC is undergoing a reduction in staff, which has affected IT specialists. The “implementation of AI” was also mentioned.

There have been layoffs in the Ukrainian division of the international e-commerce and technology company AUTODOC.

This was reported by the Telegram channel "Overheard in IT".

In Ukraine, AUTODOC, a European market leader in the sale of auto parts with headquarters in Berlin, has R&D centers with offices in Kyiv and Odessa, which support a global online store operating in 27 European countries.

The sudden wave of layoffs was announced during a meeting with the CTO. The process was organized through a mailing list: each employee was to receive one of two notifications: about being fired or about remaining on the team.

"There are no details yet, but it seems like one day, because the letters indicate that from now on you can not work. Payments are also unknown, but the letters do not talk about reductions, but about removing a position from the company," - reported "Overheard in IT."

Reference

Position elimination (liquidation of a position) is a term that most often comes from international corporate management (HR practices of foreign companies). There is no separate article “position elimination” in the Labor Code of Ukraine. Legally, in practice, this is usually formalized either as a reduction in staff (removal of a specific position from the staff list), or the parties agree on dismissal by agreement of the parties (Article 36, Clause 1 of the Labor Code) in order to avoid a lengthy and complicated procedure for official reduction.

According to the Telegram channel, the layoffs affected specialists in various fields, including developers, testers, technical writers, and project managers. They will be paid two months' salaries as compensation.

Management explained this decision by transformational processes, changes in the European market, as well as optimization through the implementation of artificial intelligence.

A screenshot of a fragment of the letter was published in a Telegram channel post. Its verbatim text is provided below.

During today's general meeting, the management reported that our organization is going through a difficult but necessary transformation process.

It is with great sadness that we must inform you that your position is among those affected by these upcoming changes.

Please keep in mind that this decision fully reflects the new strategic direction of the organization. We are deeply grateful for everything you have done for AUTODOC.

We understand that this is extremely difficult news, and we are fully prepared to support you during this transition period.

Next steps

  • Next meeting: You will receive an invitation to meet with a representative from the HR and corporate culture department.

  • What we will discuss: A conversation about voluntary transition options and what scenarios are available to you.

In the meantime, please take as much time as you need today to process this information. If you wish to log off before the end of the workday, please do so. We only ask that you coordinate with your manager to transfer your most important responsibilities and be available for your scheduled meeting with the HR team.

Thank you again for your work and for being a valuable member of our team.

The comments to the post noted that this is the second wave of cuts at AUTODOC.
