80% of revenue is not drones: what's happening at Odd Systems after the CEO change
Yaroslav Azhnyuk’s Odd Systems defense company changed its CEO back in 2025. The new head, Roman Medvedev, is responsible for operational management and preparing the business for scaling.
Yaroslav Azhnyuk’s Odd Systems defense company changed its CEO back in 2025. The new head, Roman Medvedev, is responsible for operational management and preparing the business for scaling.
According to Forbes Ukraine, the change of leadership took place in October 2025 and was not previously publicly disclosed. The company’s founder Yaroslav Azhnyuk was replaced as CEO by Roman Medvedev, who has experience working in SCM, Creatio, and EOS Data Analytics.
The new manager’s main task is organizational efficiency and preparation for further growth. This includes scaling production, strengthening the team, and readiness to enter foreign markets. Azhnyuk himself focused on strategic issues and remains involved in key decisions.
Odd Systems' business model differs from the popular perception of drone manufacturers. More than 80% of the company’s revenue comes from cameras and video systems. Its own drones are used primarily as platforms for testing and rapid integration of new solutions.
The company is also considering strengthening its engineering teams, with a focus on image processing, FPGA, and embedded systems specialists. Negotiations are ongoing with several teams, but no specific deals have been signed yet.
A separate development direction is the project of a factory for sensors for thermal imaging cameras. The company estimates that the Ukrainian market needs more than 2 million such components, which significantly exceeds the available production volumes in Europe.
The story of Odd Systems shows a change in approach in the defense technology sector. Companies are focusing not only on final products, but on key components on which the effectiveness of the systems depends. In the case of drones, these are optics and sensors. It is this segment that forms the main part of the revenue and can determine the competitive position in the market.
Earlier, dev.ua reported that Ukrainian entrepreneur Yaroslav Azhnyuk announced a massive expansion of the production teams at his miltech companies The Fourth Law and Odd Systems, which specialize in developing thermal imaging cameras and artificial intelligence systems for UAVs. They plan to hire hundreds of new employees due to the rapid increase in production volumes.
