According to a press release from Frontline Robotics, the new version of the drone is designed to operate in hostile electronic warfare conditions and can operate at a distance of up to 15 km. At the same time, the device is able to broadcast on position for up to 20 minutes, and without additional load to stay in the air for up to an hour.
The company emphasizes that «Zoom 3.0» already goes beyond the boundaries of classic aerial reconnaissance. Thanks to its payload capacity of up to 3 kg, it can be used not only for surveillance, but also for artillery correction, verification of damage and certain logistical tasks. In fact, this is an attempt to turn a reconnaissance copter into a more versatile platform for the tactical level.
The drone has a camera with a hybrid zoom of x90, which should help with detailed observation and more accurate target identification. Separately, the developers highlight their own AI module for visual-inertial navigation, which is responsible for flight stability, maintaining the position above the target at an altitude of up to 250 meters, stabilization during landing, and displaying the route traveled on the map.
Separately, Frontline Robotics emphasizes communication in electronic warfare conditions. The drone uses a dual-band encrypted system with frequency modulation, as well as a separate channel for video transmission. This should ensure stable operation even under the influence of electronic warfare. A universal ground station is included with the Zoom 3.0, so the system is ready to use without additional integration. The drone is available in day and night versions.
In this case, it is not so much the characteristics themselves that are important, but how they are combined in one solution. «Zoom 3.0» tries to cover several tasks at once, which in practice are often performed by different systems. For units, this means less equipment in position and faster transition between types of missions without replacing the platform. Such solutions are usually tested the most rigorously, because they must work not in a separate scenario, but in different conditions under real load.
