Skylum and VP Team conducted an extensive study of the current state of the Ukrainian IT industry, including factors that influence employee satisfaction, their needs, and the reasons why IT professionals change their current workplace.
The study created a happiness index for Ukrainian IT professionals, based on such indicators as satisfaction with salary and company benefits. The results showed that the most unhappy at their current job are specialists in the following professions: Project Managers (6.27), RnD Engineers (6.55), Product Managers (6.91), and QA Specialists (6.92).
The following positions are happier to work in: Product Marketing Analysts (8.03), Solution Architect (7.74), Engineering Manager (7.6), Tech Lead (7.66).
Among the most influential factors for changing jobs, most IT professionals indicated a better financial benefit that they could receive in another company. This indicator is clearly correlated with the level of happiness and salary. Thus, 94% of the unhappiest project managers indicated that leaving their current job would be motivated by a better financial offer, since their satisfaction index with current financial conditions is the lowest — 6.24. In RnD Engineers, this indicator was 6.34 and 92% of specialists are primarily focused on better financial conditions.
Interestingly, 86% of product marketing analysts are also likely to change jobs if a better financial offer comes along, although they generally have a high level of happiness — 8.03 — and one of the highest levels of salary satisfaction — 8.17. Solution Architects are the best financially, with a satisfaction score of 8.21.
