According to Engadget, Premiere Pro has an Object Mask tool: it allows you to select a person or object in the frame with one click and automatically «hold» this selection while the object moves. Such a mask is needed when the editor wants to change the color of only a certain part of the frame, add an effect only to the character or blur the background. Adobe emphasizes that the processing takes place on the user’s device, and data from projects and actions in the program is not used to train the models.
Another practical change is the update to the manual selection tools. Now simple masks like the circle and rectangle, as well as the «pen» for an arbitrary contour (Pen), work more precisely, they are easier to move and fit to the object. Separately, the company claims that tracking the movement of masks has become 20 times faster, so there is less time spent waiting when working with long fragments.
In addition, Premiere Pro has simplified content sharing within the Adobe ecosystem: media from Firefly Boards can now be transferred to a project more quickly, and Adobe Stock has been integrated directly into the program.
After Effects also received useful little things, but with a big effect: the program learned to import SVG (a common vector graphics format), and also allows you to create basic 3D shapes inside the scene using parametric 3D meshes — cubes, spheres, cylinders, cones, toruses, and planes.
Adobe has been building out AI features in its video tools in recent years, so editors and motion designers don’t have to rely on third-party software for tasks like masking, tracking, or graphics preparation. This fits into a broader trend: faster production and less manual work without losing control over the outcome.
