After activating the tools in ChatGPT, the user can directly ask in the dialog to edit the image, create an illustration or generate a PDF. As Engadget writes, to work with Acrobat and Adobe Express, you need to log in to your Adobe account, but a separate payment for using them inside ChatGPT is not required. The applications can be called from the menu or simply mentioned in the request, for example, «process this photo in Photoshop».
The most interesting thing is the connection with Photoshop. Depending on the request, ChatGPT automatically pulls up only the necessary sliders and parameters. If the user asks to make the photo lighter, the window displays exposure, shadow and highlight controls. If it is about an artistic effect, the interface shows settings such as dithering or tri-tones. The idea is to hide the professional «combine» of Photoshop behind a simple set of «sliders for a specific task.»
Technically, the integration is built through the MCP server: ChatGPT perceives Adobe tools as a set of «bricks» that can be combined depending on the request. Adobe admits that the result will not always be perfect, since the system is not deterministic, but the company is trying to bring the interface closer to the expectations of users who formulate tasks in plain language.
The new format is beneficial for both parties. For OpenAI, it’s another step towards turning ChatGPT into an «operating system» for everyday work tools, where instead of switching between tabs, everything is done in one window. For Adobe, it’s an additional channel to attract beginners who are afraid of complex professional interfaces, but can later move on to full-fledged web versions of Photoshop, Acrobat, or Express.
Adobe emphasizes that its applications will remain the place where maximum control and precision are available. The integration with ChatGPT rather shows a simplified «facade» of these capabilities, adapted for text queries, rather than replacing professional tools.
