“I got a candidate’s AI agent’s first email.” Ukrainian recruiter receives job posting response from bot

Serhiy Denisyuk, CEO of the recruitment agency ESCA Executive Search, first encountered the new reality of the AI labor market: the candidate who wrote to him about the AI engineer vacancy was not the candidate himself, but his AI agent.
This happened for the first time in the company’s history, he reported on LinkedIn.
«Finally, it happened. For the first time, an AI agent wrote to me about a candidate for the position of AI engineer. This, by the way, characterizes the candidate well,» Denisyuk wrote.
However, the first contact, the recruiter notes, was not without nuances.
Among the disadvantages, the recruiter mentioned messages after 10:00 PM and «clumsy text,» which, according to him, immediately gave out machine generation.
At the same time, the candidate’s profile, according to Denisyuk, fully matched the vacancy. «On the plus side: the profile is 100% suitable. So let’s see. The process has started.»
The expert’s post quickly garnered dozens of comments and sparked a discussion about whether automated hiring is becoming the new norm.
Some users saw this as a logical development of the market.
«If recruiters use AI to analyze resumes, why shouldn’t candidates use AI for initial communication?» wrote consultant Sergey Durdiev.
Other community members were more skeptical about the situation.
Senior IT Project Manager Roman Chebotaryov noted that this approach does not allow to check the candidate’s real skills: «There is only one thing to understand: the candidate has mastered prompt engineering well and was able to build a bot. But this does not answer the main question — will he be able to validate what the model generates when it comes to production.»
Some went even further and suggested that the market is rapidly moving towards a scenario where AI agents of candidates and employers will communicate with each other without human intervention. «The robots talked, agreed among themselves, and you just went to work,» joked the comments.
Yulia Pichkhnarashvili, Business Development Manager, predicts: «We can already offer such candidates to create their own avatar so that they can present their CV and answer the first questions.»
«A productivity tool, not a judge»: what AI really does in Ukrainian IT recruitment. We asked recruiters from SoftServe, EPAM, N-iX, Ciklum, Railsware, Levi9, PlantIn and others
A recruiter received dozens of very similar messages — supposedly from «candidates» — in just 10 minutes. What are these — bots, scammers, or automation — the community is wondering
