Team Lead Ivan Sprut has developed a solution that will be useful for those people who spend a lot of time at the computer and forget to take care of physical activity and exercises to improve their health.
According to the IT worker, he was prompted by his own need for such a solution.
«No mobile app or super cool watch helps me when I’ve been staring at the screen in hyperfocus mode for 10 hours straight, so much so that even the girl is tired of calling me to eat. Therefore, in order not to completely ruin my health, I decided to set a reminder right in the browser window (so I can see it),» he shared with the IT community on his LinkedIn.
As Ivan claims, the functionality of the solution is as simple as possible.
«I choose „problem“ zones at the start, the extension tells me when and what to do, and even with gamification elements and a „level“ of leveling. If I’m very busy, or don’t have time during an „important“ rally, I can postpone it,» wrote Team Lead.
The IT professional says that JS and Chrome Extensions API (alarms, idle, runtime, storage, tabs) helped him implement this development, and he used authoritative evidence-based medicine resources as sources for the exercises.
«By the way, if I step away and do nothing, it counts as natural activity, and I won’t receive 1552 notifications while I’m at lunch,» Ivan Sprut joked.
