"It was a hot Odessa summer, the air conditioner wasn't working... I forgot that I had turned on the camera and started to "air out" myself." The ІТ-people told many funny stories that happened to them during the meet. Thread with 200+ comments
A Threads social network user with the nickname alissskka became the topic starter for a discussion about the biggest faux pas that IT professionals have encountered during meetings with the team, customers, or stakeholders.
A Threads social network user with the nickname alissskka became the topic starter for a discussion about the biggest faux pas that IT professionals have encountered during meetings with the team, customers, or stakeholders.
The author of the post herself also told her own story, which happened during the backlog discussion.
«At the beginning of the call, we decided to test how the call content generated by Google’s AI works. We turned it on at the beginning of the call and forgot about it. We discussed the working moments and started discussing the developers’ productivity, one of them was really dragging out the tasks. Towards the end, we mentioned the AI-enabled call content, the PM mentioned that the link she had dropped was not personal, but from a group in which the company’s C-level was present. That’s how the content of our conversation flew to everyone,» said alissskka.
Most comments from IT professionals and representatives of the technosphere concerned situations when they mistakenly turned on the camera, thinking that it was turned off.
«I joined a Zoom meeting with over 90 people from all over the world, sitting in front of a screen with my bare torso and legs on the table (summer, heat, I work from home). It’s a shame that no one ever turns on the camera at such rallies, and I missed the call and didn’t pay attention. Due to the large number of people, not everyone saw the window with me, but my PM was enough,» user vlad.velytskyi shared his story.
A similar thing happened to Threads contributor moma_vika, who accidentally showed her colleagues something she hadn’t planned to.
«It was a hot Odessa summer, the air conditioner wasn’t working… I forgot that I had turned on the camera and started to ‘air out’ myself. Well, it’s a good thing that only my girls were there,» she noted in her comment.
Some contributors also shared how they or colleagues fell asleep during the meetings.
«The biggest facap was my colleague’s — he started snoring loudly. While he slept silently, no one noticed anything,» recalled social media user ksurenamed. She admitted that she herself once fell asleep during a particularly boring rally during a period when she was constantly sleep-deprived due to small children.
It is not uncommon for a colleague to share a screen with porn or other clearly non-work content.
«I coordinated an internship, the head of one direction is sharing the screen — and there is porn instead of a presentation,» wrote stacy.amantes.
A few more different unpredictable and funny situations — in the screenshots.
We recently wrote about how the founder of a startup incubator and IT marketer Georgy Rysak told an interesting work story in Threads about a developer who, having forgotten to turn off his microphone, «burned out» while working on several projects in parallel.
«At some point I wanted to change my passport and run away to live in the village.» Developers shared how they sometimes fake it and why it can be useful
