In 2024, 13% more Ukrainian IT professionals were looking for work than in the previous year. The search time also increased — only 35% managed to find a new job in less than a month.
This is stated in the analysis of the DOU publication, which is based on a survey of 3,806 IT professionals from Ukraine and abroad of all specializations. 2,420 of them were actively looking for a new job over the past year.
They began to look for work more often. During 2024, 53% of IT professionals in Ukraine and 61% abroad were looking for a new job. This is a significant increase compared to 2023, when only 40% of specialists were actively searching.
Among interns and juniors, over 70% were looking for a new job, while among mid-level and senior employees — more than half. Leads and managers changed jobs less often: in Ukraine — 34%, abroad — 51%.
Of those who were actively looking for work, 55% were able to find it. For comparison: in 2022, this figure was at the level of 70%. Technical specialists had a better chance of success: 56% of technical specialists in Ukraine and 55% abroad managed to find a new position. For non-technical specialists, this figure was only 48% in Ukraine and 37% abroad.
The search for a new job has become longer. In 2023, 49% of IT professionals in Ukraine found it in less than a month, now only 35%. Abroad — a drop from 46% to 32%. At the same time, there has been an increase in those who are looking for more than two months: in Ukraine — 57%, and among those who have not yet found — 66%. Abroad — 63%. In Ukraine, the time to find a new job is the longest for juniors and interns and almost does not differ for higher-level specialists.
DOU data

Most IT professionals take test tasks — 59% in Ukraine and 55% abroad. They are more often given to interns, juniors (81% of beginners took test tasks) and mid-level students.
