Apple has released Xcode 26.3, its proprietary environment for creating applications for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. In the update, the company has relied on AI agents, and now they can not only suggest code snippets, but also interact more deeply with the project right inside Xcode.

According to, Xcode 26.3 gives Claude and Codex expanded access to the working context: the agent can search for the necessary sections of the documentation, view the file structure in the project, update individual settings and check the result via Xcode Previews. It is also able to run builds, see errors and return to edits to bring the changes to the correct state. Previously, in the Xcode 26 line, the capabilities of agents were more limited, which made them worse «understanding» what was happening in the developer environment.
Connecting to Claude or Codex is enabled in Xcode’s settings, under the Intelligence section. After selecting a provider, the user can choose the specific model they want to work with. Apple also notes that, together with Anthropic and OpenAI, it has optimized tokenization to reduce redundant requests and make interaction faster.
Technically, the integration relies on MCP servers. Model Context Protocol is an approach for passing context from the tool to the model so that the agent can work with project data within the limits of permissions. Thanks to this, in the future, it will be possible to connect other agents in Xcode, if they support MCP.
Apple showed off the first AI capabilities of Xcode at WWDC 2025, but now it’s focusing on assistants that can perform more hands-on actions in a project. Xcode 26.3 is already available to members of the Apple Developer Program, and the company announced a release on the Mac App Store as «coming soon.»
