Ukrainians aged 18 and over can undergo intensive peer-to-peer IT training as part of the kood/Zhytomyr program. The project is supported by Estonia as part of digital assistance to Ukraine, and the first intake will start in July.
According to the DOU, the educational program is designed for those who want to enter the IT sphere and specialize in mobile development, cybersecurity, DevOps or generative AI. The basic modules cover the study of Java, JavaScript, databases and application development. The training will last 12 months and start in September 2025.
A feature of the course is its practical format: learning is based on project work, independence, and interaction with other participants. The program will be held in English, so a mandatory condition for participation is a level not lower than B2. Experience in programming is not required.
To get on the course, you need to go through a three-stage Selection Sprint: two weeks offline in Zhytomyr and another online. The sprints will last from July 21 to August 8 and from August 11 to 29. Every day, participants will solve tasks on the online platform, and weekly exams will form a rating. You can apply now on the website koodukraine.tech .
The training will be conducted in an online or hybrid format. During the offline stage, Zhytomyr Polytechnic University will be able to provide a dormitory for an additional fee. During the main academic period (from September 2025 to September 2026), participants will be able to study remotely or work on campus using university equipment. Accommodation and travel are not covered.
Career training is also provided: on CV writing, technical interviews, and meetings with representatives of IT companies. Upon completion of the training, graduates will receive a certificate in their chosen specialization.
The program is implemented in cooperation with the Estonian state agency ESTDEV, the city of Tallinn, the popular science organization INSCIENCE, and Zhytomyr Polytechnic University. It is part of Estonia’s official digital support to Ukraine and is designed to help Ukrainians quickly acquire relevant skills for employment in the IT sector.
We previously wrote about how Google introduced an updated free «Machine Learning Crash Course» in Ukrainian. The course covers the basic principles of machine learning (ML) and AI, includes materials on large language models, AutoML, as well as in-depth information on working with data and AI.
