The vacancy is promoted on social media by Kateryna Bezsudna, the executive director of the Ukrainian division of the Portuguese unicorn startup TEKEVER — and she immediately warns honestly about the difficulty of the search. «We jokingly call such specialists unicorns — they are hard to find,» she wrote, promising a «big reward» for a successful recommendation.
TEKEVER is one of the leading European developers of unmanned aircraft systems, known primarily for its maritime patrol platforms. The company is actively expanding its presence in Ukraine and is currently looking for an Electronics Engineer to join the Kyiv team on a full-time basis.
The applicant is expected to have experience with unmanned systems, robotic platforms, or defense projects. A separate requirement is confident work in EDA tools - Altium, KiCad, and the like. Another important block is understanding of electronic warfare and EMI/EMC interference countermeasures. In addition, experience in field tests and willingness to go on business trips.
Combining deep hardware expertise with an understanding of the specifics of the defense sector is a truly rare match in the civilian job market. Most specialists either have an engineering background without defense experience, or, conversely, practical experience without formal electronics qualifications.
