Palantir CEO says AI will leave only artisans and neurotypicals in the labor market
Palantir CEO Alex Karp said that due to the development of artificial intelligence, employment opportunities will sharply narrow and only people with applied skills or neurodiversity will have a stable future.
Palantir CEO Alex Karp said that due to the development of artificial intelligence, employment opportunities will sharply narrow and only people with applied skills or neurodiversity will have a stable future.
Speaking at the Technology Business Programming Network, Karp gave a blunt account of how he sees the new job market, according to Gizmodo. «There are two ways to know if you have a future: One is that you have professional training. The other is that you are neuro-diverse,» he said. He said AI will displace a significant portion of «traditional» office roles and make the path to stable employment much narrower.
This isn’t the first time Karp has highlighted the topic of neurodivergence. He has publicly said he has dyslexia and has previously said that people with such characteristics will «disproportionately shape the future.» After his viral speech, the company even launched the Neurodivergent Fellowship program.
His recent remarks have drawn criticism because they sound less like a support for inclusion and more like a claim about the special advantage of certain people. The article notes that neurodiversity encompasses autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other conditions, and in reality, such people are more likely to face barriers rather than benefits in the labor market.
Similar ideas have been voiced in the tech sector. Elon Musk has linked his success to autism, and investor Peter Thiel has called Asperger’s syndrome an advantage for innovation. Critics say such rhetoric is gradually shifting from supporting diversity to justifying inequality because of «mindset.»
Karp’s statement comes amid a broader debate about how generative AI is changing the job market. Companies are automating tasks that were previously performed by humans, fueling fears of job losses. Against this backdrop, the thesis of «two types of people with a future» seems like the most extreme interpretation of what awaits workers in the coming years.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how the company Anthropic presented a research paper reporting on the start of monitoring actual data on the impact of AI on the labor market.

Тест dev.ua
