As OpenAI reported, the new dynamic visual explanations feature has already started working for over 70 math and science topics and is available to all authorized ChatGPT users. This is a format in which, instead of a static diagram or dry text, the service shows a dynamic model: for example, you can change the sides of a triangle and see how the hypotenuse is calculated, or substitute new values in a formula and immediately see how the graph or result changes.
The company says that this approach should help not only remember the answer, but also understand the relationship between quantities. At the start, the function covers topics that most often cause difficulties for schoolchildren and students: the Pythagorean theorem, the area of a circle, the equation PV=nRT, Ohm’s law, Hooke’s law, Coulomb’s law, compound interest, exponential decay, linear equations, kinetic energy and other basic concepts.
OpenAI notes that 140 million people use ChatGPT every week to learn math and science. In early testing, students, high school students, parents, and teachers noted that the interactive format better shows how a formula works than a simple text explanation. The company also recalled that this is a continuation of ChatGPT’s educational direction: previously, the service received a study mode for step-by-step problem solving and quizzes to test knowledge.
The launch of such modules shows that OpenAI is increasingly promoting ChatGPT as a tool not only for quick answers, but also for learning through interaction. Amidst discussions about the role of AI in education, the company is betting on a scenario in which the user does not just copy a ready-made solution, but literally «twists» the formula and sees how it works.
