Frontend Developer Tetyana Guseva shared the story of how she conducted an entire investigation into a vacancy from an employer who was hunting her down for a developer position without any professional requirements in this area. We tell you what the vacancy ultimately turned out to be, and what the specialist’s decision was.

«A little about the painful. I recently came across a post about spam from recruiters, when the vacancy does not match the candidate’s resume at all. However, there is another type, when you apply for a pretty good position at first glance, and as a result you get wasted time and nerves. And this is Offices…», she wrote on LinkedIn.

While reviewing Djinni, the specialist found an «interesting» position and key points to understand why it’s not worth wasting time on such vacancies. Below is a list with the author’s comments.

  • Front-end developer — Trainee, Junior, Middle, Senior, Lead who? Not known.
  • Experience: No experience. Still okay. However, it is very rare to even be hired as a Juna without any experience at all.
  • Only the office is one of the main indicators.

«Next is more interesting. The company’s website is down, when searching we get the .ru domain. The vacancy is open from one company. When talking to HR, it turns out that it is a completely different company. And then we find out that a third party is hiring. The most interesting thing is that the vacancy is well-written, the technical stack is also not bad. As a result: completely different responsibilities, not even related to the candidate’s field of work. And these are: online courses, communication with students (if there are problems), and most importantly, working with the CRM system — a typical office description,» notes Tatyana.

According to the developer, she was applying for a job related to Frontend.

«When asked where the entire technology stack went, we get: 'You will still have career growth, and perhaps you will then move on to this stage. We get growth through a fraudulent career. Quite a good prospect, right?'» the specialist rhetorically asks the community.

Tatyana added that, upon receiving a relevant link to the employer’s website, she discovered that the location was all the way in Scotland. «Sorry, it’s a long way to get there,» she concluded the story.
