Danish-Ukrainian company Dropla Tech has received €2.4 million in investment to scale its artificial intelligence solutions that help detect explosive objects on the battlefield and integrate into drones.
The company said in a press release that the funding was provided by EIFO (Danish Export Investment Fund), Maj Invest and venture capital fund Final Frontier. The money is planned to be used to develop the company’s flagship products BLUE EYES and DROPLA VISION.
Dropla Tech was founded in 2023 by four Ukrainian entrepreneurs — Vyacheslav Shvaydak, Dmytro Zarubin, Maksym Tkachenko, and Illarion Karnaukh. The project’s success was made possible by a partnership with BRAVE1, an innovation hub of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, which provided access to real combat data for training algorithms. Today, a team of 35 specialists works in Denmark and Ukraine, combining European technologies and Ukrainian war experience.
The company’s flagship solution is the BLUE EYES system. This is an autonomous technology for detecting mines and explosive ordnance in real time, even without access to the Internet or GPS. The system integrates with existing drones and significantly increases the safety of military unit movements. The team also created its own training ground and collected the largest explosive ordnance dataset in Europe, which allowed training the AI as close to combat conditions as possible.
The second Dropla project is DROPLA VISION, a multi-sensor platform for humanitarian demining. It combines data from optical, thermal, magnetic, multispectral and lidar sensors, and AI analyzes it to detect anomalies and classify threats. The system allows you to generate cartographic reports, mark objects and plan missions for ground robotic complexes.
The main investors were EIFO and Maj Invest. Denmark has a separate program to support Ukrainian defense innovations worth €550 million. Investment in Dropla Tech is considered as part of this long-term strategy.
Dropla Tech prototypes are already undergoing field testing with the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The company plans to use the funding received to expand the capabilities of BLUE EYES and DROPLA VISION, increase the team, and integrate its products into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the future, Dropla also wants to work in other post-conflict regions of the world.
