According to Google, the update makes Ingredients to Video better suited for serialized stories, where the same character needs to appear in multiple scenes. The company claims improved character appearance consistency: the model is more likely to retain its face, clothing, and overall style, even if the location or lighting changes. The «memory» of objects and backgrounds is also better: objects, textures, and backgrounds can be reused in other episodes, so that the clips look like parts of a single story, rather than a collection of random frames.
Another change is the way different elements are combined in a single video. Google describes this as the ability to more neatly blend characters, objects, textures, and stylized backgrounds to create a cohesive scene. The result is videos that feel more «alive» even when a user is typing a short, simple query.
A special emphasis was placed on mobile content. Ingredients to Video supports vertical videos «as is», without cropping the frame for the first time. This orients the tool towards YouTube Shorts and other short-video platforms where full-screen vertical playback is important. For those who need a cleaner frame for editing, Google is adding an increase in the quality of the generated video to 1080p and 4K for a clearer image and more detail.
The updates are rolling out to the Gemini app, as well as YouTube Shorts and YouTube Create. For professional teams and businesses, these capabilities are rolling out to Flow, Google Vids, Gemini API, and Vertex AI.
Google embeds an invisible digital watermark called SynthID in videos created by its tools. The company has also expanded verification in Gemini so that users can upload videos and ask if they were generated by Google tools.
