Google has introduced a new feature in the Workspace ecosystem — «Catch Me Up.» It allows users to quickly see what changes have been made to important documents in Google Drive. The tool is powered by Gemini artificial intelligence and has already begun to roll out to users of various tariff plans.
Google Workspace users will now be able to more effectively track changes to their documents thanks to a new feature Google has added to Google Drive called Catch Me Up. As TechRadar reports, the Gemini AI-powered service analyzes a user’s files, captures changes, and creates a quick overview of edits and comments across Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
Catch Me Up works in two modes:
A general overview of changes is available through the «Catch me up» panel on the Google Drive homepage.
Review changes in a specific file — an activity indicator will appear next to the document name, signaling changes since the last view.
The reviews take into account edits, comments, replies, and other activity, but Google notes that the reports may not be completely comprehensive. To use the tool, you need to enable smart features and personalization in your Google Workspace settings.
What is this for?
Catch Me Up is part of Google’s larger strategy to integrate AI into everyday workflows. The company previously introduced Gemini as a competitor to ChatGPT for search, messaging, and content creation. The new feature in Drive aims to improve team productivity and transparency in file collaboration, which is especially important for remote teams and hybrid offices.
The feature is currently available to Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and customers with the Gemini Education or Google One AI Premium add-ons. Those who previously purchased Gemini Business or Enterprise plans will also have access to the new feature.
We also previously wrote about how Gmail users no longer need to click an option to summarize an email using AI. Gemini will do this automatically when needed, without human intervention.
