According to Google, both models are now recognized as «stable and ready for scale» in the Gemini API, meaning developers and creators can integrate the tools into commercial products and experiments without the risk of instability.
A key addition is support for the 9:16 vertical format, making Veo 3 more suitable for mobile applications and social networks — TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts. In the API settings, it is enough to specify the parameter aspectRatio=9:16. In addition, you can now choose 1080p resolution for classic videos in the 16:9 ratio.
Google also announced a reduction in the cost of video generation: in Veo 3, the price has decreased from $0.75 to $0.40 per second, and in Veo 3 Fast, from $0.40 to $0.15. This makes creating high-quality video more accessible to startups, independent creators, and large companies.
In addition to the technical innovations, the company showcased new use cases through the MediaSim demo application in Google AI Studio. It demonstrates how to combine video and audio generation from Veo 3 with Gemini’s multimodal capabilities, including for image editing and creating interactive simulations.
Veo 3 was introduced at Google I/O in June 2024 as the most powerful video generation tool. At that time, the company announced its integration with YouTube Shorts, and now it has added the ability to create vertical videos for third-party platforms. Experts believe that due to the reduction in cost, Veo 3 can compete with other AI video tools that are actively developing today.
