Defense Tech startup HeisterVR received a grant of UAH 100,000 for the development of a VR solution for adapting the military to the battlefield

Ukrainian startup HeisterVR received a grant of 100,000 hryvnias from Kiss My Apps to adapt military personnel to the battlefield using sound and augmented reality.
The Science2Business program was held in Kyiv, which teaches Ukrainian scientists to turn innovative ideas into commercially successful products. After the completion of the program, the Heister VR startup was recognized by the Ukrainian startup studio Kiss My Apps as one of the most relevant projects in the program, the press release notes.
Hesiter VR aims to minimize military losses on the battlefield during the adaptation period through effective pre-training involving VR and XR technologies (extended reality). The target audience of the product is military personnel and instructors with combat experience.
The founders of the startup, Vladyslav Malyarchuk and Serhiy Brodyuk, are working on a VR simulator to improve navigation skills in a combat zone by sound.
Their development should help fighters:
distinguish between different types of shelling;
accurately assess distance and potential threats;
respond quickly and effectively to these threats.
«Usually, people’s first experience of shelling is directly at the positions, and this can lead to incorrect reactions, for example, freezing in place or trying to find the source of the sound. With the help of XR technologies, we aim to provide this experience to recruits even in training centers,» explained Vladyslav Malyarchuk, co-founder of HeisterVR.
The Heister VR team plans to complete the development of the first version of the simulator, hand it over to the military for testing and collect feedback. In the future, the startup aims to create a whole library of VR simulators for the training of various departments.
Among the proposed directions are simulators for detecting UAVs by sound for mobile air defense groups, as well as simulators for practicing tactical maneuvers in a multiplayer format.
«Ukrainian Defense-tech has the potential to grow and transform into an export direction. In recent years, enough on-the-ground experience has been formed inside the country, on the basis of which it is possible to build popular technological solutions. The Kiss My Apps team and I singled out HeisterVR as the most relevant and closest project to implementation. Our main point is that this technology can improve the experience of servicemen and their adaptation,» commented Dmytro Lola, CEO, and co-founder of Kiss My Apps.
We will remind that the founder of Netpeak Group, Artem Borodatyuk, announced the creation of a startup studio of mobile applications Kiss My Apps in 2022. For the Russian market, a different name will be used — «Kiss My Ass», joked Borodatyuk.
