She is currently developing her HR management skills and is taking her third course in this specialty, while also looking for a job in a suitable position. The other day, Victoria shared an unpleasant conversation with a recruiter on LinkedIn. This post was actively discussed by the community.
According to Victoria, the telephone conversation between the rector and her went as follows:
Good afternoon, Victoria! I'm calling about a job. Are you still looking?
Good afternoon! Yes, it is relevant.
Are you considering HR and business assistant positions?
Currently only considering HR.
The recruiter laughed and said, "You understand that no company will hire you for an HR position without experience."
Did you call me to tell me that?
As Victoria noted, she had two dialogue options: “swallow the rudeness or be rude in return.” She chose the third — to end the conversation.
“Is further communication between us possible, and what was the recruiter's goal when she chose such a dialogue tactic?” Victoria asked in her LinkedIn post.
Community reaction under the post
The post garnered over 60 comments, all of which discussed the recruiter's incompetent behavior. Most agreed that it was best to end the dialogue there. As one of the e-chars noted: "This is no longer a red flag, but a flag."
"The level of tact and professionalism of the recruiter reflects the company's management, if disrespect starts from the first step, what else do we have to talk about? (rhetorical)," commented HR Director Olga Kholodionova.
"When the first phrases are such a devaluing of a specialist, it's scary to imagine what will happen next. Or maybe it's their corporate culture - treating employees and candidates without experience as low-grade," added HR manager Khrystyna Mulyarevych.
"That is, all those who underwent retraining may not even dream of a new job, according to this logic," noted recruiter Anastasia Nesen.
"The recruiter said that it was important to her to bring someone to an interview for the position at all costs, so that there was at least some salary," added 3D Artist Oleksandr Komarnitsky.
“From the recruiter's point of view, it looked like: 'I ran after you to tell you how much I don't care about you,'” joked recruiter Anastasia Turkalo.

"When the war started, I came to Poland, and I had absolutely no experience in recruiting. But I had the desire, hard work, and self-belief. At the time, quite competent people told me that I wouldn't find a job as a recruiter, even in another country. They recommended sending my resume for the position of Recruitment Coordinator. But I found one!", said HR manager Vira Tkachenko.
"Identical story, same dialogue. At the same time, having a higher education and 4 years of commercial experience, I was told that I would not find a job without experience, to which the dialogue went into a corner after my question, did you even read the resume to offer a job for a specific position," wrote Web & Graphic Designer Yulia Kucheryava.
Instead of a conclusion
"These memes come to mind when you go into a store and when you ask how much it costs, they answer - expensive. Only in my situation, they even called me for this," Victoria joked.
By the way, in the comments, the HR Director asked Victoria to send her a resume. We hope she will receive her first offer.
