Pornhub has warned of an incident involving the data of some Premium users after the Mixpanel analytics service was hacked. The attackers are threatening to release viewing and search history unless the company pays a ransom.
According to BleepingComputer, Mixpanel was compromised via SMS phishing on November 8, 2025, giving attackers access to the service’s customer data. Pornhub emphasizes that its own systems were not hacked, and passwords, payment details, and other financial data were not exposed to third parties. The company also claims that it has not used Mixpanel since 2021, so these are historical analytics records.
BleepingComputer writes that ShinyHunters began sending ransom notes to Mixpanel customers and told Pornhub that they had allegedly stolen 94 GB of data, over 200 million records. The hackers later confirmed to the publication that they had 201,211,943 analytics event records tied to Premium accounts. The sample that journalists saw includes the user’s email, geolocation, action type, video link and title, keywords and time of event. The events include video viewing or downloading, channel page views and search queries.
Meanwhile, Mixpanel told BleepingComputer that it sees no indication that the data set was leaked during the November incident. According to the company, the set was last accessed in 2023 from a legitimate account at Pornhub’s parent company, so the analytics provider suggests a different source of the leak.
Mixpanel reported that the incident affected a limited number of customers. Previously, the impact of the hack was publicly announced by OpenAI and CoinTracker, among others. The article also notes that ShinyHunters is associated with a series of large leaks in 2025 and plans to launch its own subscription-based crypto service.
