This is reported by TechCrunch with reference to Axios. Back in December 2024, the company’s CEO Sam Altman stated that users were sending more than 1 billion requests daily. That is, in just 8 months the load has more than doubled.
For comparison, Google’s search engine processes about 5 trillion queries per year, which is an average of 13.7 billion per day, according to NP Digital. Other researchers, including SparkToro and Datos, give even higher estimates, up to 16.4 billion daily searches. Despite this, ChatGPT’s growth rate is impressive: it is rapidly establishing itself as an alternative source of information on the Internet.
The increase in traffic on the platform indicates not only the global integration of AI into everyday life, but also a change in information search models. More and more users prefer dialogic interfaces with generative AI instead of classic search engines. The service is especially actively used to obtain summaries, summaries, explanations, code or text generation.
ChatGPT is now integrated into dozens of products, including mobile apps, browsers, instant messengers, and business tools from Microsoft and Apple. Experts predict that this popularity will only grow with the development of multimodal models and personalized agents.
